New Jersey City University women's basketball team was unable to score more than 13 points in a quarter as it fell to Stockton University, 65-38, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action inside the Stockton Sports Center on January 11.

In defeat, NJCU (4-11, 0-8 NJAC) played short-handed much of the game and failed to reach 50 points for the first time as it scored a season-low 38 points—15 points less than its previous low. NJCU shot a season-low 19.7 percent (12-61) from the floor overall.

Stockton (11-3, 6-1 NJAC), which received votes (13 points) in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, held a 30-18 lead after the first half on 33.3 percent shooting before opening it up with a 20-7 margin in the third quarter. The Ospreys led by as many as 36 points with 6:23 left in the fourth quarter as they held NJCU to only 20 second-half points.

In 29 minutes of play, freshman guard
Iyannah Moore (Newark, N.J./University) led the Gothic Knights with a career-high 14 points as she scored in double digits in a game for the third time this season. Junior guard
Aaliyah Saud (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) added 11 points and had four steals in 28 minutes of play.

Four Ospreys scored in double digits. In 31 minutes,
Najha Treadwell pulled down a huge double-double with a game-high 18 boards and 17 points (8-15 FG).
Sasha Williams, who also scored a team-high 17 points (8-14 FG), grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists, and earned three blocks in 29 minutes on the court.
Lea Mendolla and
Mikila Stefanski each scored 11 points and had five rebounds in 34 and 25 minutes of play, respectively.
Mendolla also had four steals on the night.

For NJCU, freshman forward
Atonie Johnson (Irvington, N.J./Irvington) collected a career-high 12 rebounds (10 defensive) and forced four steals in 37 minutes. Junior center
Shege Haxhaj (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) corralled 10 rebounds (six defensive) for the second straight outing and added two blocks in 36 minutes.

Due to injuries that occurred moments apart, two of NJCU's key contributors this season, senior guard/forward
Jazz Randall (Parsippany, N.J./West Orange) and five-time NJAC Rookie of the Week and freshman guard
Tu'ziah Hall (Greenville, N.C./Bannecker (NC)), saw limited playing time against Stockton.
Randall scored two points in 10 minutes of play, while
Hall scored four points and dished out one assist in 14 minutes of action.

While each team turned the ball over 16 times, Stockton was able to extend its lead throughout the night as it shot a touch better than 45 percent (15-33) compared to NJCU's .231 (6-26) shooting in the second half. The Ospreys continued their success inside as they held a 30-10 points in the paint advantage and outrebounded NJCU, 54-40.

OF NOTE:
- 60th meeting. Stockton leads the all-time series, 47-13, and has won 26 of the last 27 meetings since November, 1998.
- Moore match her career-high of 14 points in a game. The last time Moore scored 14 points was against Vaughn College on December 20, 2016.
- Johnson hauled in a career-high 12 rebounds. Her previous best was 10 rebounds against Pratt Institute on November 26, 2016 and Vaughn College on December 20, 2016, respectively.
- Saud scored in double figures for the ninth time this year.
- The 38 points for NJCU was 15 less than the previous low of 53 in a loss to Rowan on January 9. It was the lowest output since falling to Rutgers-Camden, 67-29, on February 17, 2016.

The Gothic Knights return home when they take on NJAC rival Ramapo College on January 14 at 3:00 p.m. inside the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center ("Coach Charlie Brown Court"). Saturday's contest will be the 68th meeting between the two sides. Ramapo leads all-time series, 39-28.
