Shege Haxhaj’s Double-Double Performance Not Enough; NJCU Falls to Rutgers-Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Junior center Shege Haxhaj (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) recorded a double-double for the second straight game as New Jersey City University played Rutgers-Newark close during the first half. However, but the Scarlet Raptors outscored the Gothic Knights, 24-4, in the third quarter, before winning 67-43 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action inside the Golden Dome on January 18.

NJCU (4-13, 0-10 NJAC), minus a number of starters, began the night off well as it led by four after the first quarter (14-10) and only trailed by five at the intermission (32-27).

Haxhaj produced her second double-double performance in as many games with 15 boards and 11 points in 31 minutes of play. Senior guard Kiana Briggs (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) scored 12 points.
