GLASSBORO, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | One day after the Gothic Knights upset No. 29 Rowan University, the Profs exacted revenge in the form of an 8-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory in the second half of a home-and-home series. Rowan scored three runs in the first inning and limited the
New Jersey City University baseball team to a single run in the sixth on April 28 at the Rowan Baseball Field.

Rowan (26-12, 10-6 NJAC) only had eight hits—one more than NJCU—but the Knights (16-17, 5-11 NJAC) committed three errors and only half of the eight runs were earned.

In defeat, senior right fielder
Joe Coutinho (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) was 2-for-3 with one RBI while senior second baseman
Jeff Reinecke (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) batted 2-for-4.

For Rowan, junior first baseman
Joe Sadler (Holmdel, N.J.) provided four RBIs (1-for-3, one run), highlighted by a three-run homer off the left field foul pole in the first inning. Freshman second baseman
Alex Kokos (Wayne, N.J.) scored three times (one RBI, one run). Senior left fielder
Jason Clapper (Mount Laurel, N.J.) batted 2-for-3 with one run.

Andrew Cohen (Monroe Township, N.J.) went 8.0 innings for the win (4-4), striking out seven against one walk. He allowed a run and five hits over 118 pitches.

Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) was hit by a pitch to lead off and scored on a two-out RBI double by
Coutinho—his 12th of the season. Rowan added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before adding three unearned runs in the eighth.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
NJCU is still alive for the NJAC Tournament with two games remaining. For the Knights to qualify for the NJAC Tournament for the first time since 1995, the following needs to occur on Saturday:
- NJCU needs to sweep Rutgers-Camden
- Rowan needs to sweep William Paterson
- Ramapo needs to sweep Stockton
- Montclair State needs to split with or be swept by Rutgers-Newark.
