UPDATED: April 7 Baseball vs. Rutgers-Newark Postponed; Updates to Softball Schedule

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | For the second day in a row, a New Jersey Athletic Conference baseball game between New Jersey City University and Rutgers-Newark has been postponed due to the weather. Additionally, a pair of changes have been made to the softball schedule.
 
Baseball:
  • April 6: Yesterday's road conference game at Rutgers-Newark was rained out.
  • April 7: The second half of the home-and-home series, scheduled for today at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m. is postponed due to rain and field conditions.
  • April 9: The two postponed conference games will be made up on Sunday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m. as part of a home doubleheader in Jersey City, N.J.
  • April 10: NJCU's road non-conference doubleheader against the College of Staten Island is moved from April 9 to Monday, April 10 at 4 p.m. in Staten Island, N.Y. The doubleheader will feature two seven-inning games with the second contest under the lights.
  • The latest changes mark the 14th and 15th postponements this season against nine different opponents. It is believed to be a school record for the most in a season. Friday's change also marks the 10th time NJCU's 2017 home opener at the Gerrity Complex has been called off. NJCU's original home opener was March 18 against Lehman. | Updated Baseball Schedule
  • NJCU baseball is 6-6 overall and 5-1 since returning from its spring trip to Florida on March 8, including a win over No. 25/25 ranked Kean in conference play in its last action on Saturday, April 1. NJCU is scheduled to play William Paterson University in a road NJAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 8 (11:30 a.m.).
 
Softball:
  • April 6: A new date for NJCU's home non-conference makeup doubleheader against York College (NY) on April 6 that was previously postponed on March 18 is still pending.
  • April 24: NJCU's non-conference doubleheader against the College of Staten Island, previously postponed on March 26 and April 9, is rescheduled for Monday, April 24 at 3 p.m. at the Gerrity Complex.
  • The postponement is the seventh this season for the NJCU softball program. The Gothic Knights (7-5) have played just four games since returning from Naples, Fla. on March 9. | Updated Softball Schedule
