New Jersey City University men's soccer team outshot Brooklyn College 24-7, but needed an 84th minute tally to force overtime and settled for a 1-1 draw in a non-conference road game against the Bulldogs on September 11.

NJCU (3-0-1) remains undefeated but could not cash in on multiple opportunities in the game despite outshooting Brooklyn (1-2-2) by a staggering 18-3 differential in the second half and two overtime periods.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Utku Tanritanir (Brooklyn, N.Y.) kept his team in the game by stopping 13 shots in 110 minutes.

With NJCU trailing 1-0 for more than 60 minutes, junior forward
Theo Sanoh (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) finally capitalized at the 83:23 mark of the second half, putting away a touch pass from freshman back
Angelo Romano (Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) from 20 yards out that squeezed through traffic after Brooklyn couldn't clear a corner kick and deflection. It was the second goal of the season for
Sanoh, who had a game-high eight shots with five on goal. Â
Romano collected his first collegiate point on the assist.

Freshman midfielder
Jonathan Franco (South River, NJ/South River) had five other shots (three on goal) and junior midfielder
Ron Jones (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) added four other attempts (two on goal). NJCU outshot BC by a 12-1 margin in the second half and 3-0 in the first overtime period before the clubs combined for five shots (3-2, NJCU) in the second extra period.

Brooklyn's goal came at the 23:06 mark of the first half and was the first allowed this season by the Gothic Knights, ending a 293:06 scoreless string. Senior defender
Jean-Luc Saint-Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) shot from 25 yards out and NJCU freshman keeper
Eric Lopes Silva (Newark, NJ/Newark East Side) stopped it initially but couldn't hold on to it.
Lopes Silva did make three saves to limit any further Bulldog scoring, including two in the second overtime.

- NJCU plays its second of three road games this week when it returns to Staten Island, N.Y. on Wednesday, September 13 (4 p.m.) for a non-conference game against the College of Staten Island. NJCU participated in the CSI Soccer Fall Classic on September 1-2 and won the tournament championship for the second year in a row. NJCU won last year's meeting between the schools, 1-0, on September 14, 2016 in Jersey City, N.J. NJCU leads the all-time 'Bayonne Bridge Series', 19-9-3.
