EWING, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Nationally No. 3/4 ranked The College of New Jersey led 5-0 at halftime and behind seven different scorers defeated the
New Jersey City University women's soccer team, 8-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on September 23 at the TCNJ Soccer Complex.

The Lions continued their perfect season, improving to 7-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the NJAC while registering their seventh shutout in a row. TCNJ has outscored opponents 31-0 this season, including two wins over ranked teams. TCNJ has won back-to-back games by 8-0 results. NJCU fell to 2-6 overall (0-2 NJAC), losing consecutive games against the best two programs in the league (TCNJ and Rowan). The Lions outshot NJCU, 36-1.

TCNJ outshot NJCU 15-1 in the first half, scoring the game-winning goal early in the fifth minute before adding two goals in a span of 22 seconds in the 17th minute to push the lead to 4-0. Junior goalkeeper
Dominique Jackson (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) made 14 saves under heavy pressure.

Kayla Bertolino (Medford, N.J.) scored the game-winner.
Christine Levering (Robbinsville, N.J.) had a goal and an assist while
Kelly Carolan (Sparta, N.J.) had a pair of first half assists.
Taylor Nolan (Sparta, N.J.), Elizabeth Thoresen (Colts Neck, N.J.) and
Despina Lianidis (Linwood, N.J.) each added first half strikes.
Lianidis later added an assist for her third point of the game.

The Lions had all 21 shots in the second half, scoring three more times.
Gianna Zarra (East Hanover, N.J.) added a 73rd minute goal.
Julia Obst (Pennington, N.J.) was the only player to score twice, adding tallies in the 78th and 85th minutes. Additional assists in the game came from
Jen McGrogan (Pompton Plains, N.J.),
Kelly Wieczerzak (Wayne, N.J.) and
Stephanie Figueroa (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).

Three goalkeepers split time in front of a stingy defense to contribute to the shutout. TCNJ had 29 players see action in the game; 20 saw the field for the Gothic Knights.
