JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The 17th win this season for the New Jersey City University (17-11) baseball team is its most lopsided one to date. NJCU pounded out 20 hits, led by sophomore left fielder Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro), sophomore right fielder Juan Pena (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy), junior shortstop Nick LoGatto (Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) and junior third baseman Matt Corsi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East), while junior right-handed pitcher Nate Facey (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) threw 7.0 innings of a combined two-hit shutout as the Gothic Knights rolled past St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn (3-24) by a 16-0 final on April 18 at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex.
 
After winning 18 games last season, NJCU has won 17 or more games in consecutive seasons for the first time in the 71-year history of Gothic Knight baseball.
 
Facey (3-1) had the best game of his career, striking out eight in 7.0 innings while scattering just two hits and five walks before two others threw an inning each for NJCU. The Bears did not have a hit after the fourth inning.
 
NJCU scored twice in the first and third innings, added three in the fourth, then piled up six runs in the fifth when the Knights batted around and sent 11 to the plate. NJCU punctuated its win with two runs in the sixth inning and another in the seventh. The Knights stranded 15 men on base in the win or the outcome could have been much more.
 
Feehan was 2-for-3 and accounted for the first four runs of the game for NJCU, including a two-run homer in the third—his first homer of the season. He finished with four RBIs.
 
Pena batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, LoGatto scored three times while batting 3-for-4 and Corsi knocked in three RBIs in a 3-for-6 day.
 
Also for NJCU, senior designated hitter Mike Ramirez (Old Bridge, NJ/Saint Joseph-Metuchen) was 2-for-4 with two runs and two walks and junior catcher Mike Albunia (Jersey City, NJ/Hudson Catholic) had two RBIs in a 2-for-5 effort. Senior first baseman Dan Berardi (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) scored twice (1-for-3, one RBI, one walk). In all, 11 different Gothic Knights had at least one hit as 18 different NJCU players saw action.
 
Freshman righty Brandon Kuhl (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) struck out one of the three batters he faced in the eighth inning and junior righty Jesse Kraft (Nutley, NJ/Saint Mary-Rutherford) struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.
 
The Bears used seven pitchers in the loss, with the starter, sophomore righty Andrew Watters (Brooklyn, N.Y.), losing (1-3). He allowed seven runs and 10 hits in 3.1 innings. Freshman catcher Michael Ryan (Franklin Square, N.Y.) had a double and a walk in the loss.

  In the first inning, LoGatto singled with one out, Pena dropped down a perfect bunt single on the grass and junior second baseman Tom Pulcine (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) worked out a walk to load the bases. Feehan laced a single up the middle to drive in LoGatto and Pena for a 2-0 lead. NJCU got a pair of singles with two outs and a wild pitch moved runners into scoring position before a groundout ended the inning.
• In the third, Berardi led off with a single, stole second and scored when Feehan launched his first homer of the season (second of career) over the right field fence for a 4-0 lead.
• In the fourth, Ramirez and LoGatto each singled with one out for their third hits of the day. Pena singled to center to load the bags. Berardi walked on four pitches to force in Ramirez for a 5-0 lead and Watters was chased from the game. A sac fly by Pulcine made it 6-0. A pop up to right fell between the second baseman and right fielder for a bloop single by Corsi and a 7-0 lead.
• The game got out of hand in the fifth when NJCU scored six runs on five hits while aided by three errors—all by the St. Joseph's third baseman. Kraft, who started the game in center field and made a fantastic catch to rob an extra-base hit in the right-center gap in the top of the fifth, singled to open the bottom of the inning. Ramirez walked and LoGatto reached on an error. Pena stepped up doubled, notching three RBIs to push the lead to double figures, 10-0. After an 11th run scored on an error, Corsi and Albunia added RBI singles for a 13-0 advantage.
• Corsi and Albunia each added RBI singles in the next inning for a 15-0 lead after six innings. Freshman first baseman John Miano (Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield) had a sac fly in the seventh for his first collegiate RBI and the final one in a 16-0 win.

• NJCU has won 17 or more games 12 times in its history: 1986, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
• Mike Ramirez (Old Bridge, NJ/Saint Joseph-Metuchen) now has an active 22-game on-base streak, matching Tom Pulcine (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) and Lenin Gomez (Edison, NJ/Edison) for a team season-high.
• NJCU's 16-0 rout was its most lopsided win since also winning 16-0 on March 22, 2014 against Washington College (Md.) in Chestertown, Md.
