LITTLE FALLS, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Montclair State University (17-13, 5-6 NJAC) scored four times in the third and sixth innings and defeated the
New Jersey City University (17-12, 5-6 NJAC) baseball team, 12-5, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game under the lights at Yogi Berra Stadium on April 20.

After the first game of the NJAC home-and-home series in Jersey City was rained out on Thursday, Montclair scored twice in the first inning and led 7-1 after three innings while collecting a 12-10 edge in hits. NJCU fell below .500 in the NJAC for the first time this season and Montclair snapped a five-game losing streak.

For Montclair, junior left fielder
Nick Martinez (Wall, N.J.) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a walk and freshman second baseman
Aidan Supp (Red Bank, N.J.) had two RBIs, batting 2-for-4 with two runs.

Justin Bates (Brick, N.J.) was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore third baseman
Joe Norton (Cranford, N.J.) and freshman designated hitter

Dan Berardi (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) drove in three RBIs, batting 2-for-5. Sophomore left fielder
Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) and sophomore right fielder
Juan Pena (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) each had two hits. Junior shortstop
Nick LoGatto (Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) had three stolen bases and scored twice. Senior left-handed pitcher/designated hitter had two RBIs.

Leading, 3-1, the four-run third inning created separation for Montclair as
Bates and
Supp each has two-run singles. NJCU scored single runs in five different innings, including four of the last five frames.

Connor Lindsay (New Egypt, N.J.) was the winner, improving to 5-2, as he struck out seven (two walks) in 7.0 innings over 128 pitches. He allowed three runs (two earned) and eight hits.

Mike Albunia (Jersey City, NJ/Hudson Catholic) and freshman
Ryan Guthrie (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) combined to toss the final three innings.

- Mike Ramirez (Old Bridge, NJ/Saint Joseph-Metuchen) didn't reach base via hit, walk or hit by pitch and sees his active 22-game on-base streak snapped. It's the third time this year a Gothic Knight has had a 22-game on-base streak snapped; Tom Pulcine (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) and Lenin Gomez (Edison, NJ/Edison) also had 22-game streaks this year.
- Dan Berardi (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) moved into 13th place in school history with 145 hits, passing Sean Costello (1984-87, 143 hits) on the all-time list.
- With three RBIs, Dan Berardi (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) moved into a share of seventh place in school history with 91 RBIs, matching Dave Long (1987-90). He passed Ruben Borges (2005-07, 90 RBIs) and former teammate Joe Coutinho (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) (2014-17, 89 RBIs) on the career list.
- Dan Berardi (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) reached the Top 10 in school history with 434 at bats.
- In the loss, Mike Ramirez (Old Bridge, NJ/Saint Joseph-Metuchen) moved into fourth place in NJCU history with 133 batters struck out.
- Nick LoGatto (Helmetta, NJ/Spotswood) is now 19-for-19 in stolen base attempts this season.
- Juan Pena (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) leads the team with 20 steals in 22 attempts
- On the season, NJCU is 83-for-100 in steals this year while opponents are just 29-of-45.
