JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University's only tournament of the 2018 women's volleyball season has been moved because of the impact of Hurricane Florence.
Â
The Seahawk Invitational, run by St. Mary's College (Md.) in St. Mary's City, Md., has been relocated to Hood College—122 miles and safely more than two hours to the northeast in Frederick, Md. The town of St. Mary's City, Md. is located on the southern end of a peninsula surrounded by both the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay, forcing the school to cancel all weekend events on its campus due to the threat of flooding from the storm.
Â
NJCU will face the same four opponents—St. Mary's, Hood, Valley Forge and Alvernia—but at slightly altered times. Â
Â
The revised tournament schedule:
Â
Friday, September 14:
- 5 PM: St. Mary's vs. NJCU (neutral)
- 7 PM: NJCU at Hood
Â
Saturday, September 15:
- 10 AM: Valley Forge vs. NJCU (neutral)
- 12 PM: Alvernia vs. NJCU (neutral)
