GLASSBORO, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | No. 22 ranked Rowan University scored four times in the second half to break open what was a 1-0 game at the half as the Profs defeated the
New Jersey City University men's soccer, 5-0, on October 12 at the Rowan Soccer Field.
It took Rowan (7-2-3, 3-1-1 NJAC) a span of 41:01 to find the net against the Gothic Knight defense as NJCU fell to 11-5-0 overall (0-5-0 NJAC). Rowan, with 10 points, is tied with Rutgers-Camden for first place in the conference with four league games remaining.
Rowan made it 2-0 just 1:17 into the second half when freshman forward
Chad Yates (Sewell, N.J.) struck in the 47th minute and began to pull away with another strike from
Yates four minutes later before adding insurance markers in the 65th and 90th minutes. The Profs outshot NJCU 24-5 overall with a 13-1 edge in shots on goal. Rowan outshot NJCU in the first half, 9-1, and 15-4 in the second period.

Matt Hendrickson (Sewell, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal and assisted on
Yates second tally. Freshman forward
Ki Costa (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) and freshman midfielder
Declan Riddell (Pitman, N.J.) accounted for the other two goals

Wilby Alfred (Neptune, N.J.), freshman midfielder
Alex Ferrara (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and sophomore back
Aaron Robertson (Neptune, N.J.) each produced single assists.
NJCU junior goalkeeper
Aldahir Cazun (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) made eight saves against heavy pressure. Rowan started sophomore
James Weinberg (Morganville, N.J.), who played the first 64:14 without making a stop. Freshman
Shane McBride (Farmingdale, N.J.) made one save over the final 25:46 to secure the shutout.
