Red Hawks Overwhelm #NJCUWSoccer, 7-0

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com| Montclair State University got off to an early lead and never looked back as six different Red Hawks scored as MSU defeated the New Jersey City University women's soccer team by a final score of 7-0 on October 22 at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field.

Samantha Senatore (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) got things started in the third minute, scoring her fifth goal of the year, assisted by Julia Kelly (Glen Rock, N.J.) to give Montclair State (11-4-2, 6-0-1 NJAC) the 1-0 lead over New Jersey City University (7-8-1, 0-6-1 NJAC). MSU outshot NJCU, 28-4.

That lead was doubled less than two minutes later, as Christine Mayorga (Bound Brook, N.J.) put the finishing touch on a play, this time assisted by Senatore, to give MSU a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.

The Red Hawks went on to score five more times, with Emily Beenders (Rahway, N.J.) scoring her sixth and seventh goals of the season—the game's lone brace. Senatore and Lindsay Bathmann (Jackson, N.J.) both tallied a goal and two assists for four-point games.

For the Knights, they tallied just three shots on goal, with senior center midfielder Mallensy Vargas (North Bergen, NJ/Memorial) getting two of those and senior Karina Torres (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) nabbing the other. Sophomore goalkeeper Cidney Lee-Sam (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) tallied five saves.
