JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The
New Jersey City University athletics department will offer free admission to its home New Jersey Athletic Conference basketball doubleheader on December 11 with the donation of shoes or canned food items.
Â
All fans, regardless of school affiliation, who donate one (1) pair of new or gently-used shoes OR five (5) canned or nonperishable food items at the ticket window will be admitted free to NJCU's conference doubleheader against Montclair State University. There will be a donation bin to deposit all shoe donations.
Â
Tipoff is 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center ('Coach Charlie Brown Court').
Â
Shoe donations will benefit
Soles 4 Souls, a non-profit that works to provide relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. This is the second year of an exciting partnership with S4S, a partnership that will extend into spring of this year, when a select number of Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members will be traveling to Guatemala to help distribute the shoes. During the 2018-19 academic year, NJCU athletics, led by the Rising Knight Institute (RKI), collected more than 500 pairs of shoes that were donated.
Â
All food donations collected will benefit local food banks in the Jersey City community.
