JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | It's official: in its first year as a relaunched program since 2010, the
New Jersey City University men's and women's indoor track and field team will be represented this weekend at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York City.
#TrackIsBack and the Knights will send freshman
Dave Etienne (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) of the men's program and freshman
Shania Robinson (Jersey City, NJ/Snyder) of the women's program to the championship event on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2. Meanwhile, the men's 4x200-meter relay, consisting of freshmen
Jason Layton (Newark, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep), Etienne, Ahmiel Allen (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth) and sophomore
Tariq LaCourt (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee), who reached the qualifying standard on February 22 in the final meet of the regular season, will also compete for the ECAC title.
Etienne qualified in four events—the 200, 400 and 500 meters, plus as part of the relay. Due to time constraints—it's only a two-day event—he will compete in only the 200 and 400 individually, along with solidifying the relay.
Robinson will run for the 500 crown.
Here are the order of events for NJCU:
Friday, March 1:
- Men's 4x200-meter relay, 6:15 p.m.
Saturday, March 2:
- Men's 400 meters: 11:30 a.m.
- Women's 500 meters: 11:40 a.m.
- Men's 200 meters: 12:50 p.m.
