PITMAN  N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University men's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Jonathan Andrews (North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) has been voted First-Team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference for the 2019 season in voting by the league's head coaches announced on April 25. With the NJAC sponsoring the sport of men's volleyball for the first time during the 2019 season, Andrews will go down in program history as the first Gothic Knight to ever be voted All-NJAC.
 
Andrews was a two-time weekly award winner this season, scoring NJAC Player of the Week accolades in week 10 (March 25) and NJAC Defensive Player of the Week status in week 12 (April 8). He joins Kean's Ian Capp, the 2019 NJAC Player of the Year, as the only players in the league to be named both Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week. Andrews was the only Gothic Knight named to the All-Conference team.
 
Andrews helped lead the Gothic Knights to a 13-12 record and the program's first winning season since 2016. NJCU produced double digits in victories for the 28th consecutive season.
 
Andrews played in all 25 matches for the Knights, starting 22 times while playing in 78 of 85 sets. He tallied 261.0 points, 196 kills, 138 digs, 53 service aces, 19.0 blocks and 10 assists while hitting at a .178 percentage for the season (196-112-472). He averaged 3.35 points, 2.51 kills, 1.77 digs, 0.68 service aces and 0.24 blocks per set. He reached double figures in kills five times with a high of 17 against Lehman in four sets on February 5.
 
Andrews finished the year ranking No. 6 in NCAA Division III in aces per set and 76th in points per set. He was a big part of the reason NJCU ranked fourth nationally in team service aces (2.36 per set) and seventh in opponent hitting percentage (.120). Andrews' most notable effort of the season came on March 23 in a convincing 3-0 win over Saint Elizabeth when he unleashed a single-match school record nine aces. A record for a match of any length, he was able to achieve it in in the minimum three games.
 
In the final NJAC statistical rankings, Andrews was No. 2 overall in aces behind Capp and second overall in points per set. He also ranked fifth in kills and digs and 17th in hitting percentage.
