Box Score 2 GALLOWAY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The NJAC schedule wrapped up for both the
New Jersey City University and
Stockton University softball teams on April 27, with the Ospreys sweeping the Gothic Knights, 18-4 and 12-0. Both games ended in five innings.

Stockton clinched the final spot in the NJAC Tournament, finishing their regular season 22-18 (8-10 NJAC). The Gothic Knights (4-32, 0-18 NJAC) finished their NJAC season winless and will host the College of New Rochelle (13-17) to wrap up their season next weekend.

GAME 1: Stockton 18, NJCU 4 (5 innings)
In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Ospreys jumped on the Knights early, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning and 10 more in the third, ending the game after five as a result.

Stockton senior first baseman
Maggie Klatt (Middletown, N.J.) led the way, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Junior designated player
Alexandra Cosenzo (East Hanover, N.J.) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs and freshman shortstop
Lilly James (Roseland, N.J.) finished 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs. Sophomore left fielder
Liani Ortiz (Marlton, N.J.) contributed three RBIs, batting 2-for-3 with two runs. Stockton had 19 hits including 10 for extra bases.
Klatt and
Ortiz each homered for the Ospreys.

For the Knights, all of their offense came in the second inning. Junior left fielder
Arianna Scrimo (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) and freshman right fielder
Maia Tejada got things going with back-to-back singles, before a pair of strikeouts flipped the lineup and brought up senior catcher and leadoff hitter
Hannah Gavin (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown). The inning was extended by a Stockton error, and the Knights made the Ospreys pay, with sophomore shortstop
Dulce Almonte (Jersey City, NJ/Snyder via County Prep) collecting a two-run double before freshman third baseman
Emma Herrick (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) brought in one more with a single to cut the lead to 6-4.Stockton would score the final 12 runs of the game.

NJCU had seven hits.
Almonte batted 2-for-2 with two RBIs, one walk and one run and a double while
Scrimo went 2-for-3 with one run.

GAME 2: Stockton 12, NJCU 0 (5 innings)
The Gothic Knight bats were quieted in game two, with Stockton's sophomore righty
Marissa Semeraro (Ridgefield, N.J.) tossing a complete game two-hitter over NJCU.

The lone NJCU hits came from
Herrick and senior designated player
Christina Mezey (Jersey City, NJ/Saint Dominic Academy). The Knights got runners in scoring position in the first when
Herrick doubled, and in the fifth inning when
Tejada drew a leadoff walk, making her way to third before the final out of the game.

For the Ospreys, senior second baseman
Morgan DiVello (Hammonton, N.J.) had four RBIs on two hits (2-for-4), and
James hit her second home run of the day in game two, scoring twice and driving in three in the second half of the doubleheader.
Klatt was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to finish the day driving in seven runs.
Cosenzo and senior third baseman
Casey Schieda (Monroe Township, N.J.) each batted 2-for-3 with two runs.

Stockton scored one in the first, two in the second, and three in the third, before pulling away with six in the fourth.
