GLASSBORO, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Nationally No. 7/16 ranked Rowan University scored in each of the first five innings and collected 18 hits en route to a 13-0 win over the
New Jersey City University baseball team, on April 7 at the Rowan Baseball Field.

Rowan (17-5, 5-1 NJAC) won both games of the New Jersey Athletic Conference home-and-home series by the same 13-0 result with the Profs also prevailing in Jersey City on April 4. Sunday's game was postponed from April 5 due to rain. NJCU fell to 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the NJAC. Five of NJCU's eight losses, including three of four in the NJAC, have been shutouts. The Profs have won the last five meetings.

NJCU ran into one of the best pitchers in the conference as junior left-handed pitcher
Drew Ryback (Mantua, N.J.) fired a complete-game five-hit shutout, striking out 10 without walking or hitting a batter. He threw 94 pitches to improve to 4-0 on the season.

In defeat for NJCU, junior right fielder
Juan Pena (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) batted 2-for-3 with a double and his 22nd steal of the season. NJCU used six pitchers in the game. Freshman righty
Paul Tannucilli (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) went the first 4.0 innings, suffering his first collegiate defeat (0-1).

At the plate, the Profs were led by senior shortstop
Dillon Mendel (Sparta, N.J.), who was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, one run and his second homer of the season. Junior second baseman
Alex Kokos (Wayne, N.J.) was 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of doubles and senior catcher
Steven Hewa (Galloway, N.J.) homers and was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Also for Rowan, senior right/left fielder
Dan Shane (Perkasie, Pa.) was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI and junior first baseman
Mitch Walker (Pennsville, N.J.) was 2-for-4. Senior designated hitter
Anthony Harrold (Woodbury, N.J.) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Sophomore third baseman
Nick Schooley (Marlton, N.J.) had two RBIs. Senior center fielder
Matt Woods (Berlin, N.J.) scored twice. Freshman
Jason Bobiak (Westville, N.J.) had a two-RBI pinch hit single.

Mendel's two-run homer in the bottom of the first provided all the runs Rowan would need.
Hewa led off the second with a solo homer. Rowan added a run in the third for a 4-0 advantage and a pair of RBI singles in the fourth for a 6-0 edge. The Profs led 7-0 through five frames. After adding a single run in the seventh, the Profs cemented their win with a five-run eighth inning off the Gothic Knight bullpen as 10 men came to the plate.
Bobiak and
Harrold each had two-run singles in the inning.
