Defending NJAC Champion Kean Blanks #NJCUWVB, 3-0

UNION, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Two-time defending New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Kean University posted a sizzling .398 attack percentage and swept the New Jersey City University women's volleyball team, 3-0 (25-14, 25-4, 27-25) on September 26 at Harwood Arena.

Kean (12-6, 3-0 NJAC) demonstrated why they're in first place in the league, posting a 43-21 differential in kills while committing just six attack errors in 93 attempts. The Gothic Knights (4-7, 0-3 NJAC) lost their fifth straight outing after a 4-2 start to the season.

Kean hit .371 in the opening set with 16 kills (16-3-35) before producing a jaw-dropping .647 attack rate in game two with 11 kills and no errors (17 attempts) while limiting NJCU to just four points.

The Cougars hit .317 in the final set with another 16 kills; NJCU landed 14 kills in the set and hit .220 (14-5-41) to force Kean into extra points—a 21-point difference between the second and third set. NJCU led 24-21 in the third set before the Cougars staved off two set points to tie it at 24-24. After NJCU regained a 25-24 lead, Hall had back-to-back kills to spark Kean to the final three points of the match.

In defeat, freshman outside hitter Xarial Chandler (East Orange, NJ/University) had the second most kills in the match, leading NJCU with nine winners, a .300 attack percentage (9-3-20) and a match-high 11 digs. Freshman setter Katrina Nguyendon (Union, NJ/Union) handed out 16 assists.
