STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Freshman
Jason Garcia (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) made his debut for the
New Jersey City University men's track and field on Friday, February 14 at the Fasttrack National Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. and he made quite the debut. The Jersey City native, who started the winter season on the men's basketball team, ran 7.22 in the 60 Meter Dash, finishing fifth in a field of 47 runners. Maybe most impressively,
Garcia qualified for ECAC on what was his first meet in the green and gold.
Â
Another strong performance for the Knights came alongside
Garcia in the 60 Meter Dash, as
Jon DeJesus (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) ran a 7.36 to finish 14th and collect a PR.
Â
In the 200 Meter Dash,
Xavier Freeman (Newark, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) ran 23.40 to finish in the top half of a crowded field.
Â
Many Knights collected personal records on the day, including:
Emmanuel Chinonso Abarah (Irvington, NJ/Irvington) in the 400M and 60M Hurdles,
Javier Baez (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) in the shot put,
Ali Chaudhry (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris) in the 800M,
