JERSEY CITY, N.J. — In what has already been a groundbreaking couple of days for New Jersey City University wrestling, with the women's program recently being featured on CBS2 New York, the men's wrestling program has some monumental news of their own today, Friday, Jan. 29. The Gothic Knights are proud to officially release their schedule for the inaugural 2020-21 season, which is highlighted by the first-ever home wrestling match at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Feb. 5.
NJCU begins its season with a historical first match on the road at Castleton University tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 30, in Castleton, Vt. The Spartans immediately return the favor as they travel down to Jersey City less than a week later for the Gothic Knights' program home-opener at the JMAC on Friday, Feb. 5.
One day later, Saturday, Feb. 6, NJCU travels to neighboring Hoboken, N.J., for a road match at the Stevens Institute of Technology in the hopes of establishing a strong rivalry for years to come. After a couple weeks off, the Gothic Knights are scheduled to close out their regular season with one final road match at Alfred State College in Alfred, N.Y., on Saturday, Feb. 20.
Then for the postseason, should all NCAA minimums be reached and the Division III Championship Committee pushes forward, NJCU will look to qualify for both the NCAA MidEast Regional Championships (Feb. 27-28) and the NCAA Division III Championships (March 12-13).
