SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New Jersey City University women's volleyball team won 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-16) against first round competitor Sage University at the Skidmore Classic tri-match on Friday, Oct. 1, which is being hosted by Skidmore College.
NJCU (9-2) battled through a close first set, then proceeded to take down the Gators (4-12) in straight sets. The Gothic Knights dominated the game with a total of 45 kills – freshman
Rachael Pharo (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) led with 15 kills while junior
Paola Toledo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Colegio Catolico San Rafael) was a close second with 12.
Jersey City senior
Leah Seickendick (Hoboken, N.J./Hudson Catholic) closed out the victorious first set with a kill, assisted by sophomore
Sydney Lore (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee). Lore had a team-high of 32 assists in the match-up against the Gators. Lore and rookie
Dayshia Espinosa (El Paso, Texas/Pebble Hills) both ended with a total of 13 digs apiece. The Gothic Knights cleaned up the second and third sets following various service errors from Sage.

The Gothic Knights will play the host Thoroughbreds in the next round at the Skidmore Classic tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. neutral match with the Massachusets College of Liberal Arts.
