ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. — The New Jersey City University men's golf team competed on Saturday, Oct. 9, in round one of the two-day Mason Dixon Collegiate Classic, hosted by McDaniel College at The Bridges Golf Club. The Gothic Knights sit in 15th place as a team after 18 holes, while freshman
Evan Stoker (Clinton, N.J./Voorhees) leads the way for NJCU individually following his round one plus-4 76, good enough to leave him in a tie for 19th place heading into round two.
Three other Gothic Knights competed on the day, all shooting in the 90s. Sophomore
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) was NJCU's second-best scorer after his round of 92. Senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Bergen Community College) shot a 93 on Saturday, while rookie
Ben Herrick (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) came in at 99.
The squad returns to action tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, Oct. 9, for the second round with a 12:10 p.m. tee time.
