JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Coming back from the abbreviated 2021 season, the New Jersey City University baseball team has released its full 2022 schedule today, Tuesday, Nov. 16. The Gothic Knights played a tough season, closing out 2021 at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament, where they fell in the first round to Stockton University on May 4, 2021.
First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, when Jersey City travels to Langhorne, Pa., to play Cairn University. The Gothic Knights defeated the Highlanders 11-10 back in 2019. The team quickly turns around to play Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) the following day, Wednesday, March 2, in Newburgh, N.Y., having beaten the Knights in three of the last four meetings, dating back to 2016. Over spring break, the Gothic Knights will travel to Florida for the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational from Saturday to Wednesday, March 5-9, for a batch of to-be-determined non-conference matchups as well.
Still on the road, the Green & Gold will travel to New Paltz, N.Y., to play SUNY New Paltz (March 15), and to Bethlehem, Pa., for Moravian University (March 17). NJCU topped the Hawks 5-0 in 2019 and has defeated the Greyhounds twice in a row in 2018 and 2019. The team's first double-header takes place in Purchase, N.Y., where the Gothic Knights will play the Valiants of Manhattanville College on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. — NJCU and the Valiants have not met since 2008. The bus makes one last stop to Reading, Pa., where Jersey City will face Alvernia University on Sunday, March 20.
NJCU hosts its home-opener on Tuesday, March 22, against Baruch College at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. The team is happy to welcome back fans and spectators to the Gerrity following last year's limited restrictions. Fans can also continue watching the all the action live on
GothicVision. The team will stay home to host Drew University on Thursday, March 24. The Knights have won five in a row against Baruch and have taken six of the last seven against Drew.
Back on the road, the team will face-off against McDaniel College (March 27) in Westminster, Md., FDU-Florham (March 29) in Madison, N.J., and Immaculata University (March 30) in Immaculata, Pa. The Gothic Knights are looking for the win at the Green Terror, have split the last four with the Devils and will be playing the Mighty Macs for the first time ever.
The Green and Gold will play their first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) double-header on Saturday, April 2, against rival The College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J. — the squads split last year's two-game series. On Thursday, April 7, NJCU will first host Rowan University, then travel to Glassboro N.J., the following day for the second match-up on Friday, April 8 — NJCU is in search of its first win over the Profs since 2017. The Gothic Knights will next host a double-header against Stockton University on Saturday, April 9, at the Gerrity — the teams have split the last six matchups evenly, dating back to 2018.
Next, Jersey City will travel to Hoboken to play a non-conference game against Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, April 12 — NJCU has dropped two straight against the Ducks, having last one in 2016. NJAC play continues when the Gothic Knights travel to Montclair State University on Thursday, April 14, then return home for the second game of the series on Friday, April 15, in search of their first win against the Hawks since the April 2019. The Green and Gold will host a double-header against Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, April 16, at the Gerrity, followed by a non-conference game against The College at Old Westbury on Tuesday, April 19. NJCU has won four of its last eight games against the Scarlet Raptors, and looks to make it eight straight wins against the Panthers.
NJCU plays back-to-back NJAC games against Kean University (April 21-22) and Ramapo College (April 23), hosting the first day against the Cougars and both days versus the Roadrunners — the Gothic Knights look for their first win over both programs since 2018. Before finishing out NJAC play, the team will travel to Patchogue, N.Y., to play St. Joseph's College – L.I. on Tuesday, April 26. The Gothic Knights finish conference play against Rutgers-Newark (April 28-29) and William Paterson University (April 30), only hosting the second day against Rutgers-Newark. NJCU has won three of its last six against the Scarler Raiders and are in search of its first win over the Pioneers since 2015. The NJAC tournament begins on Tuesday, May 3, at the Kean Baseball Stadium in Union, N.J., with the first round, and the tournament continues there from May 6-8.
