November 02, 2021

PITMAN, N.J. — The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its 2021 All-Conference women's soccer teams today, Tuesday, Nov. 2. Sophomore Kim Brites (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) was the only selection for New Jersey City University, as Brites was recognized with Honorable Mention All-NJAC honors. This is the second straight season that Brites has been celebrated on the NJAC All-Conference women's soccer team after being named a First Team selection in the abbreviated Spring 2021 season.

Brites followed up her First Team selection from this past Spring with career-highs and team-high marks in goals (9), points (19), shots (55), shots on goal (29) and games played (16). In the NJAC, Brites finished the regular-season second in shots and shots on goal, while finishing third in goals and points. The sophomore standout was one of four Gothic Knights to play in all 16 games and ended her season with 1,263 minutes on the pitch.

Additionally, in the three wins for the Gothic Knights, Brites led the team with seven combined goals, 15 points and two game-winners. Brites played her best game of the season against The City College of New York after posting a career high in goals (3), points (6), shots on goal (9) and scored the game winner to give NJCU its first victory of the year. The sophomore followed this game with a five-point and two-goal performance against Brooklyn College to win back-back games for the squad. This earned Brites her first NJAC Player of the Week honor (Sept. 27) of her career.

As one of the team leaders, Brites will return next year on a team that expects to return eight starters from this past season. She is currently pursing her undergraduate degree in exercise management.
