JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The New Jersey City University men's basketball team shut down Rutgers-Camden in its third New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match-up of the season. The game took place today, Dec. 4, resulting in a 95-53 NJCU win at home at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC).

The Green and Gold (4-5, 1-2 NJAC) remain undefeated in the last 14 match-ups against the Scarlet Raptors (0-9, 0-3 NJAC). Even tonight, Jersey City never trailed – NJCU started the game strong after putting the first six points on the board against the visiting team. Senior Kayton Darley (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) scored seven of the first 16 points for the Gothic Knights, contributing to the 29-point lead by halftime.

Four players scored in double-figures for Jersey City in tonight's contest — Darley led the way with a game- and career-high 22 points, followed by senior captain Denzel Banks (Newark, NJ/East Orange Campus) with 15 and sophomore Ryan Savoy (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood) with 12. Darley went 8-of-12 shooting on the court, in addition to going 5-of-6 from three-point range, while Banks led in free throws going 4-of-6. Banks also marked team-highs in assists (3) and steals (5) for the Gothic Knights. Savoy, who was one of the five starters, went 5-of-7 on the floor and tied Banks with one steal. Darley and freshman Leon Lawson (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) also documented a single steal in tonight's game. Leon ended with a game-best eight rebounds.

Senior captain Marvellous Akingbala (Union, N.J./Union) trailed the others with a total of 10 points, including a 3-of-5 performance from three-point range. Akingbala saw the most action against the Scarlet Raptors, playing a team-high 25 minutes and ended with five rebounds.
