CORALVILLE, Iowa — The New Jersey City University men's wrestling team will conclude its abbreviated debut campaign this weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 12-13, at the Division III National Championships, which are being held at the Xstream Arena and GreenState Family FIeldhouse. The tournament is being hosted by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) in the wake of the NCAA's decision to cancel all Division III winter sport championships. The Gothic Knights will be represented in all but two weight classes.

In lieu of the typical regional qualifier system which yields brackets of 18 at each weight, the NWCA has opted to expand brackets to 32 in order to accommodate the 34 teams sending participants to determine national champions.

All eight Gothic Knights will be making their first appearance at a national tournament at any level, despite four entrants bringing transfer experience to the lineup.

"We're excited and I am extremely grateful to the NWCA for building this tournament out of nothing in just under a month's time," head coach Harry Turner said of the opportunity. "We have a nice mix of guys who will be able to see exactly where they are in the national pecking order, as well as guys who know they can be high up on that food chain and now have a chance to prove it. We are healthy, hungry and above all, far more well-rested than any team I have seen entering March."

NJCU last competed in a series of duals against Castleton University nearly a month ago, as cancellations prevented duals with the Stevens Institute of Technology and Alfred State College later in the season.
