CAMDEN, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's volleyball team's abbreviated 2020-21 season has come to a close tonight, Thursday, March 18, with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-15) loss to Rutgers-Camden in the quarterfinal round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament. Tonight was the first time the Gothic Knights had competed in the NJAC Tournament since the 2008 season.
NJCU (1-5, 1-4 NJAC) started off slow in the first set against the Scarlet Raptors (3-3, 2-3 NJAC), eventually falling behind 19-7. However, a late surge in the game brought the Gothic Knights right up to the point of taking the set before Rutgers-Camden eventually held them off. NJCU outscored the Scarlet Raptors 16-6 in the remainder of the first thanks in part to a trio of kills from freshman
Taylor-Michelle Coriolan (Roselle, N.J./Roselle Catholic) and two aces apiece for freshman
Sydney Lore (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and junior
Krista Bartko (Edison, N.J./Edison).
Set number two started out a bit more evenly and the Gothic Knights held an 8-7 lead early and trailed 10-9 at the closest before Rutgers-Camden was able to own the rest of the momentum of the set en route to the 25-13 win. The final set started out with the Scarlet Raptors jumping out to a 8-2 lead before NUCU was able a quick five-point run to make it 8-7, thanks partly to another pair of aces from Bartko. However, a 10-1 run jump started Rutgers-Camden's squad and led to the 25-15 third-set win and match victory.

- Coriolan led the Gothic Knights with seven kills. She closes the season as NJCU's leader in kills with 40 (2.11 per set).
