GLASSBORO, N.J. — The New Jersey City University baseball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) matchup on the road on Friday afternoon, April 9, by a score of 15-0 to #20 (d3baseball.com/NCBWA) Rowan University, completing the regular-season series with the Profs.
Senior righty
Gavin Niland (Paramus, N.J./Paramus Catholic) got the start for NJCU (3-12, 1-3 NJAC) on Friday, tossing 5.0 quality innings, allowing three earned runs (eight total) on eight hits the three strikeouts. Overall, Niland falls to 1-1 on the season, but the Gothic Knights defensively committed six errors on the afternoon. Rowan (6-2, 4-0 NJAC) got started in the bottom of the first with three runs on three hits. The Profs scored two more in the bottom of the third to make it 5-0 and scratched one more across in the fourth. After a two-run fifth, Niland's day was done and then a scoreless sixth was followed by a six-run seventh for Rowan. The home team scored once more in the eighth to nail down the 15-0 game.

Juan Pena (Perth Amboy, N.J./Perth Amboy) also snagged a hit, going 1-for-4.
What's Next
NJCU returns to the field tomorrow, Saturday, April 10, for a road NJAC doubleheader, albeit hosted by Rutgers-Camden in the friendly confines of the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex, as the Scarlet Raptors do not have a home facility this season. Game one action between the Gothic Knights (officially the road team) and Rutgers-Camden is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by game two.
