EWING, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's and women's track & field teams competed in The College of New Jersey Last Chance Meet earlier today, Thursday, May 13. The Gothic Knights took part in four events on the afternoon, and earned personal records in al of them.
Up first was recent Second Team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection, sophomore
Polina Agutina (Evaptoria, Ukraine/Number 6), who placed fifth in the women's long jump by tying her personal best with a distance of 5.16 meters. That equals the mark she hit earlier this year and currently ranks her 22nd in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region rankings.
The next NJCU competitor was freshman
Jake Sisk (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) and the rookie placed eighth in the men's 800 meter. He finished in a personal-best time of 2:01.57. Following him, the men's 4x100 meter relay improved on its personal record from the NJAC Championships last weekend. The quartet of sophomores
Xavier Freeman (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) and
Jason Garcia (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) and juniors
Tyneil Jackson (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris) and
Dave Etienne (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) placed third at 43.26.
And last but not least, Etienne competed on his own in the 400 meter race and placed sixth overall in a personal-best time of 49.66.

NJCU track & field returns to action next Thursday, May 20, at 1:00 p.m. as the Gothic Knights compete in the Rowan University Last Chance Meet in Glassboro, N.J.
