CAMDEN, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's tennis team closed out its inaugural season since the program's long-awaited return on Saturday, May 1, as the Gothic Knights — seeded sixth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament — were defeated 5-1 by #3 Rutgers-Camden in the quarterfinal round.
NJCU (2-6) unfortunately dropped five of the six matches played against the Scarlet Raptors (5-2), but once again saw success at first singles on the back of sophomore
Giada Zorzan (Milan, Italy/Liceo dello Sport Marco Pantani ). The transfer improved to 7-1 on the season after dispatching her opponent in straight, scoreless sets. It was her fourth scoreless victory of the season. She also finishes the season 3-3 in doubles play, all at first.
With the season concluded, hopes are high for the building blocks of the program. Head coach
Nick Margiasso continues to work hard on the recruiting trail, all the while developing his student-athletes on the court and outside the lines.
