JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's wrestling program, along with acclaimed head coach Elena Pirozhkova, have officially released their first-ever full schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 season, which begins on Nov. 7, 2021. NJCU, which only competed in two events during its first official season due to COVID-19 restrictions, now looks forward to a full slate of 16 events throughout the upcoming season. The highlight of the year comes on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2022, when Jersey City hosts the program's first-ever home competition as Division II East Stroudsburg University comes to the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) for a traditional dual match.

NJCU, which returns a pair of All-Americans in sophomores Sandra Guerrero (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) (191 lbs.) and Naomi Henry (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wingate Educational Campus) (130 lbs.), as well as another national qualifier in sophomore Johnae Drumright (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) (109 lbs.), kicks off it season on Sunday, Nov. 7, in East Strousburg, Pa., for the ESU Open.

The Gothic Knights then return to East Stroudsburg the following Sunday, Nov. 14, for a quad-meet against the hosting Warriors, another D2 foe in Tiffin University and Nassau Community College. Then on Saturday, Dec. 4, NJCU heads out to Lock Haven, Pa., for a tri-match with Division II Lock Haven University and Division I Sacred Heart University. The following week, on Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, the Gothic Knights head up to Fairfield, Conn., for a tri-match at Sacred Heart against the hosting Pioneers and Elmira College.

Next, should the team or any individuals qualify, are the NCAA National Duals to kick off the New Year at a to-be-determined site on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. Then its back to regularly scheduled programming as the Gothic Knights head out to Doylestown, Pa., for a tri-match at Delaware Valley University on Saturday morning, Jan. 8, against the hosting Aggies and yet another meeting with Sacred Heart. NJCU follows that up as it heads out to Tiffin, Ohio, for the Dragon Duals on Saturday, Jan. 29, hosted by Tiffin.

Finally, after years of anticipation, the Gothic Knights return to action when they set up the mats for the first time officially at the JMAC on Sunday, Feb. 6. That day, the ESU Warriors come to Jersey City for a 12:00 p.m. dual meet. All the action will be available via live stream on GothicVision. Then, on Saturday, Feb. 12, NJCU closes out its regular season at the Bearcat Open, hosted by McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill.

The postseason begins on Sunday, Feb. 20, with the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Regional Qualifiers at a to-be-determined site. Should the team and/or any individuals qualify, the Gothic Knights return to the mat several weeks later from March 4-5 in Adrian, Mich., for the NCWWC National Championships, hosted by Adrian College.
