Women's Tennis Competes Against Top Tier Opposition on Day One of ITA Northeast Regionals

September 19, 2021

GENEVA, N.Y. — The New Jersey City University women's tennis team competed in the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday, Sept. 18, hosted on the campus of William Smith College. Various schools from the region were represented, giving the Gothic Knights exposure to some of the top tier programs in the nation.

A contingent of four Knights competed on the day. Unfortunately, all three singles matches NJCU took part in did not go the squad's way, however the Gothic Knights split its pair of first round doubles matches. Team captains due of junior Giada Zorzan (Milan, Italy/Liceo dello Sport Marco Pantani) and graduate student Brittany Waugh (Stevenson Ranch, Calif./West Ranch) paired up and advanced to the second round following a strong 8-2 victory over Marilena Karadimou and Gracie Nicol of Union College.
