FLEETWOOD, PA. — Freshman
Evan Stoker (Clinton, N.J./Voorhees) of the New Jersey City University men's golf team showed out on Friday, Sept. 24, in round one of the Golden Oaks Shootout, hosted by Arcadia University at Golden Oaks Golf Club, a 6,648-yard, par-72 course. The NJCU rookie demolished the program's record for individual 18-hole round with an even-par round of 72 to put himself in a tie for second overall out of 55 golfers.
Franklin & Marshall College is in first place overall after shooting 294 as a team in round one, while the Diplomats' Jas Fuhrer is in first place individually following his first-round two-under 69. For the Gothic Knights, Stoker led the quartet with 72. Sophomore
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) was NJCU's second-best first round scorer following a round of 89, which currently places him in 47th. Freshman
Ben Herrick (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) (94, 53rd) and senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Bergen Community College) (95, 54th) also competed on the day.
The Gothic Knights, along with the rest of the field, returns to action tomorrow morning, Saturday, Sept. 25, with the first tee times set for 9:00 a.m.
