MANHEIM, Pa. — The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), in partnership with the NCAA, released its 2022-23 preseason Women's Wrestling Rankings on Thursday, Oct. 20. The New Jersey City University women's wrestling program will enter the season ranked #10 in the nation. Additionally, the individual rankings were also released and three Gothic Knights notched spots within their respective weight classes' top-eight nationally.
NJCU, the first intercollegiate varsity women's wrestling team in the state of New Jersey's history, is now under the direction of first-year head coach
Barry Hart — he enters his third season with the program. The Gothic Knights have totaled three All-American honors over its first two seasons, while finishing 13th and 17th in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC), respectively.
In addition to the team's national ranking, three Gothic Knight grapplers earned top-eight individual national rankings in their respective weight classes. Two-time NCWWC All-American and junior co-captain
Sandy Guerrero (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) leads the way as the 191-pounder is ranked fifth in her weight class to start the season. Right behind her at 109 pounds is sophomore
Izabella Frezzo (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton Regional). The 2021-22 NCWWC Qualifier is tied for fifth in her weight class to begin 2021-22. Last but not least, NJCU's other junior co-captain, 130-pounder
Naomi Henry (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wingate) is ranked seventh in her weight class. She qualified for Nationals this past season and was an All-American in 2020-21.

The Green and Gold are just nine days away from the start of their 2022-23 campaign. The Gothic Knights host Columbia University (club) on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) beginning at 12:00 p.m.
