JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's soccer team, led by a career-high five tallies from junior forward
Kim Brites (Carteret, N.J./Carteret), dominated Pratt Institute on Sunday, Oct. 23, for the 6-3 victory in the Gothic Knights' penultimate home matchup of the season. Additionally, senior co-captain midfielder
Victoria Gil (South River, N.J./South River) was honored pregame as the program's lone graduating member on Senior Day.
The three-year team member, who has held the captaincy throughout her tenure, played in her 33rd-career NCAA contest on Sunday for Jersey City (5-9-3), making her 25th-career start. She played two seasons at the NJCAA level with Middlesex Country College before joining up with the Gothic Knights.

Once play began, Brites got NJCU off and running against Pratt (7-6), wasting no time and scoring just 14 seconds in. Freshman forward
Ariana Flores-Ortiz (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) got tied up at the top of the box before sneaking a pass out to Brites, who put the ball into the left side of the net to make it 1-0 in the first minute. Brites struck once again in the seventh to record her sixth-career multi goal game and made it 2-0. Freshman midfielder
Nyrohah Alvarenga (North Bergen, N.J./High Tech) sent a cross from the far side all the way over to the near side to junior midfielder
Rayanna Lima (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) inside the box. She then sent one in front and it was headed into the back of the net by Brites.
The Carteret native then wasted no time making it 3-0, forcing a turnover in front on her own in the ninth to notch her second-career hattrick. Brites then made it 4-0 in the 11th as Flores-Ortiz once again found her teammate in front to extend NJCU's lead. Pratt scored once in the 25th and the Gothic Knights took a 4-1 advantage into the half.
After the Cannoneers scored late in the 56th to start the second half and make it a two-goal game at 4-2, freshman midfielder
Natalia Jaramillo (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) scored the second goal of her career early in the 65th. The rookie handled a header just inside the box, settled the ball and then ripped a shot with her left foot and put it into the top left to make it 5-2. Moments later, Brites scored her fifth goal of the day to make it 6-2. She took the ball down the far side, made a nice inside move and then ripped a left-footer of her own to the upper-left corner, as well.
