Women's Basketball Receives Votes in D3hoops.com Poll for First Time Ever

November 01, 2022

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Expectations galore are what awaits the New Jersey City University women's basketball team. The Gothic Knights, who have now won back-to-back New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships in 2020-21 and 2021-22 for the first time ever after having only won their first NJAC Postseason game in program history in 2019-20, have now earned an outstanding national recognition. D3hoops.com released its 2022-23 preseason top 25 rankings, and for the first time in program history, NJCU is receiving votes in the poll.

The Green and Gold qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament last season for the first time ever and are poised for another big-time run in NJAC play. The Gothic Knights return 10 members of last year's championship squad, led by all-world point guard junior Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus), co-captain senior guard Laney Fox (Parkland, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) — a 2021-22 All-Conference selection — and a handful of other dependable contributors.
