BOSTON — A small contingent of New Jersey City University men's track and field runners competed at the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Sunday, Feb. 27, headlined by a record-breaking time in the 200m by senior captain
Dave Etienne (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson).
Etienne posted a blazing-fast time of 21.92, just under 00.20 faster than his previous career mark of 22.11 set at the NYC DIII Invitational back in January of 2020. At the moment, this time ties him for 40th nationally in all of Division III this indoor season (conversion for nationals puts it at 22.32), as well as fourth in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
Also competing for the Gothic Knights on the day were juniors
Jason Garcia (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) and
Tyneil Jackson (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris). Garcia took part in the men's 60m and finished with a time of 7.27, while Jackson competed in both the long jump and triple jump. He posted a 5.72m leap in the long jump, which is a bit off of his personal-record mark of 6.02m, set two weekends ago at the Monmouth University Winter Collegiate Invitational. He also posted a distance of 12.35m in the triple jump, which was 00.40 short of his career mark set back on Jan. 14 of this year at the Spartan Invite.
