Track Competes at Greyhound Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The New Jersey City University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Greyhound Invitational, hosted by Moravian University on Friday, April 15.
 
For the women, sophomore Shantel Worrell (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) notched a personal-record toss in the discus throw to place 22nd out of 35 throwers – and second in her flight – with an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship qualifying distance of 23.64m. Fellow sophomore Lamya Young (Audubon, N.J./Audubon) placed 12th in the 100m-dash with a time of 13.46, finishing ahead of 17 other runners in the event. That time also qualified for ECACs, which she did last weekend with her PR in the event.
 
On the men's side, junior Rodger Campbell placed eighth out of 29 in the 200m-dash with a ECAC-qualifying time of 23.02, just 00.01 off his personal best. Sophomore co-captain Jake Sisk (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) PRed once again in the 800m event, this time placing 11th out of 38 runners with a time of 1:59.11 – within the ECAC standards, as well. Junior Emmanuel Chinonso Abarah (Irvington, N.J./Irvington) notched a PR in the 110m hurdles with a seventh-place time of 16.32 to qualify for ECACs.
 
NJCU's men's 4x400m relay set a season-best with a fifth place finish out of nine with a time of 3:38.25. The squad was made up of graduate student Muhammed Hawneh, junior Adnan Kpodo (Irvington, N.J./Irvington), Abarah and Sisk.

A small contingent of the Gothic Knights will travel down to Princeton, N.J., on Saturday, April 16, for the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosting by Princeton University.
