Voss Earns Second Consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Honor

NJCU Now Boasts 29 All-Time Selections, First Two-Time Honoree Since 2008-09

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — On Thursday, May 12, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their annual Academic All-District baseball teams today, and for the first time since 2008, New Jersey City University had a two-time honoree. Senior outfielder Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. NJCU has now had 29 student-athletes honored with this distrinction.

Having been named as a First Team Academic All-District honoree, Voss is now officially nominated for Academic All-America. Voting among the nation's Division III Sports Information Directors/Athletic Communicators will take place from May 17-24.

Voss, a finance major with a 3.77 cumulative grade point average, had a career year for the Gothic Knights — and then some! Also for the first time since 2008, NJCU baseball had a First Team All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selection in Voss. It was the first All-NJAC honor of his career, during which he now has 131 hits, 86 runs, 86 RBI and 17 home runs.

This season, Voss led Jersey City in nearly every single offensive statistical category, including batting (.418), OPS (1.256), runs scored (46), hits (61), doubles (14), home runs (9), RBI (45), total bases (108), slugging (.740), walks (tied for first, 24) and on-base percentage (.516). He also ranked in the top 10 in nine different categories within the NJAC at the end of the regular season: second in slugging, on-base and OPS, third in batting, tied for third in home runs, tied for fourth in runs, sixth in hits, seventh in RBI and tied for seventh in doubles.
