JERSEY CITY, N.J. — A nationwide search is underway to fill the role of Director of Athletics at New Jersey City University, now officially vacated by NJCU's
former Associate Vice President Shawn Tucker, who has returned to his alma mater, Rutgers University. During this period of transition for the Gothic Knights, Assistant Director of Athletics
Robert Cole has been appointed to the role of Acting Director of Athletics, until an official successor is selected to fill the role moving forward.
Cole, who joined the Jersey City athletics department in August 2012 as an assistant volleyball coach, has been with the Gothic Knights for nearly 10 years. He was elevated to head coach of the men's program prior to the 2014 season and then also took over the same role with the women's program in fall 2014. Cole held the head men's position through 2017 and the women's through 2018 before officially moving over to the administration side of things.
Cole has led NJCU athletics' compliance and business operations since the 2018-19 academic year and was elevated to his current role of Assistant Director of Athletics prior to the 2019-20 academic year.
