OSWEGO, N.Y. — A stellar day on the course in Round Two of the Oswego State Fall Invitational helped the New Jersey City University men's golf team to a 26-stroke swing and a 10th-place finish on Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Oswego Country Club. Four players improved on their first round scores, but freshman
Tim Bock (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) paved the way with a second-round 78 to lead Jersey City.
The 36-hole team title was claimed by Hamilton College, who led wire-to-wire and finished with a total score of 578 (293-295). NJCU placed 10th after dropping a big chunk of strokes from round one to round two and totaled a team score of 710 (368-342). Individually, Ryan Fecco of hosting-SUNY Oswego and Ramon Aroca Gonzalez of Hamilton tied for first with two-round scored of 143.
For the Gothic Knights, Bock's career-best round of 78 on Sunday jettisoned him 17 spots up the leaderboard and he finished the weekend in a tie for 33rd after a two-round score of 168 (90-78). Junior
Taj Piontkowski (Califon, N.J./Voorhees) also had an impressive second round and moved up five spots in the final standings. He finished with a 36-hole tournament with a score of 175 (92-83).
Freshman
Garrett Miller (Port St. Lucie, Fla./St. Lucie West Centennial) tied for 52nd with a two-round score of 179 (88-91). Senior
Zachary Ware (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) had a massive turnaround and dropped 13 strokes from yesterday to finish in 56th with a total score of 193 (103-90). Finally, freshman
