MILTON, N.Y. — The New Jersey City University men's and women's cross country squads returned to the course today, Sunday, Sept. 25, and the Gothic Knights performed well at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome. The men placed third overall out of 14 teams, led by senior
Jaime Tlatelpa (Jersey City, N.J./University Academy Charter) who took home 11th out of the scoring runners.
Starting with the men, Isaac Clark of the United States Merchant Marine Academy won the individual 8K title with a time of 26:43.90, while Tlatelpa led the Gothic Knights and placed 12th overall out of 124 runners (11th out of scoring runners) with a time of 29:28.90. The team title went to Merchant Marine, as well, while Jersey City placed third overall.
Junior
Jake Sisk (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) was the second-best finisher for Jersey City, placing 15th overall (14th among scorers) with a time of 29:50.60. His classmate
Topu Saha (Jersey City, N.J./William L. Dickinson) came in 26th (22nd among scorers) in a time of 31:22.00. Another senior,
Denilson Lopez (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) took home 35th place overall (29th scoring) with a time of 32:00.60. Sophomore
Vladimir Pericles (Elizabeth, N.J./Thomas Edison Academy) finished with a time of 32:16.90 to place 40th (32nd scoring) and senior
Adnan Kpodo (Irvington, N.J./Irvington) closed it out in 46th (37th scoring) with a time of 32:50.90.
The women did not post a team score but their two runners placed 31st and 32nd overall out of 90 total runners in the 6K competition. Sophomore
Nyla Boyd (Thomson, Ga./Thomson) led the way with a time of 32:35.50, while her classmate
Ashley Adames (Jersey City, N.J./County Prep) posted a time of 32:42.10.
