JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University women's volleyball team hosted Montclair State University at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Tuesday night, Oct. 10, for a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match. The Gothic Knights started out fast against the Red Hawks, but unfortunately it was the road team that came out on top, 3-0.
NJCU (2-10, 0-5 NJAC) trailed by a wide margin to the Red Hawks (9-11, 1-4 NJAC) in the first set at 21-10. However, the Gothic Knights then flew out to 7-1 run to make it close at 22-17. Senior middle blocker
Ashley Jimenez (West New York, N.J./Memorial) led the way during that stretch with a kill and an ace — she had a team-high-tying five kills to go with nine kills on the night. But it was Montclair who came out on top, 25-17.
The Green and Gold never got things going in the second or third sets, however, and fell to the Red Hawks in three. Junior outside hitter

Carly Everett (York, Pa./York Catholic) notched a match-best 13 digs to go with four assists and two aces. Freshman setter
Scarlett Torres (Union City, N.J./Jose Marti STEM Academy) was right behind her with six assists.
