NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's soccer team closed out regular-season New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Wednesday night, Oct. 25, on the road at Rutgers-Newark. A rough and tumble game filled with nine yellow cards, the Scarlet Raiders eventually came out on top, 3-0, with all three tallies coming in the 72nd or later.
Fifth-year NJCU (7-7-2, 2-6-1 NJAC) keeper
Nick Linebaugh (Linden, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) kept his former team Rutgers-Newark (6-8-4, 4-3-2 NJAC) off the board through the beginning of the 72nd minute, making 10 of his 11 saves during that stretch. However, the home team got on the board at that point to take a 1-0 lead. A yellow in the box in the 74th led to a successful penalty for the Scarlet Raiders, making it 2-0. Finally, in the 80th, Rutgers-Newark tallied one more to cap the scoring on the night.
