ADRIAN, Mich. — The #19-ranked New Jersey City University women's wrestling squad competed in the Adrian College Duals on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Gothic Knights took part in four tight matches, coming out on top in one of them, a 28-9 victory over Frostburg State University. NJCU nearly pulled out wins against Hiram College and John Carrol University, as well.

Two-time NCWWC (National College Women's Wrestling Championship) All-American and senior captain Sandy Guerrero (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) was a perfect 4-0 on the day at 191 pounds, with two wins by fall and another two by technical fall. Two-time NCWWC National Qualifier, junior Izabella Frezzo (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton Regional) was also a perfect 4-0 on the day, with a quartet of 10-0 wins by technical fall at 116 pounds. Each looks poised to continue their strong collegiate wrestling careers with another run at Nationals.

Junior Claire Daity (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) finished the day with a 3-1 record at 130 pounds, while her classmate Kayla Zeppetelli (Little Ferry, N.J./Ridgefield Park) was 2-1 at 136 pounds, including a win by fall.

The Gothic Knights return to action tomorrow, once again in Michigan for the Adrian College Women's Open. NJCU finished 13th in the event last year, highlighted by fourth-place finishes from Frezzo at 109 pounds and since-graduated two-time All-American Naomi Henry (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wingate) at 130 pounds.
