HOBOKEN, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's basketball team squared off with Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday night, Nov. 15, in the Battle of Hudson County in search of the squad's third consecutive victory over the Ducks. However, the visiting Gothic Knights came up short against Stevens for the first time since 2019, dropping the game by a final of 70-44.
NJCU (1-1) had a tough night shooting from the floor and fell behind early to the Ducks (1-1). The Gothic Knights were just unable to recover from the initial deficit in the loss. Senior forward
Avante Gilbert (Paterson, N.J./International) led the Green and Gold and tied for the second-highest point total on the night with his second-straight 14-point performance, going 6-of-10 from the floor with a team-high-tying seven boards to boot. Junior guard
Hakeem Wilson (Newark, N.J./North Star Academy) also finished in double figures, chipping in 11 points, five rebounds, two steals and two dimes.
