PITMAN, N.J. — The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released its weekly award winners today, Monday, Nov. 27, for the past week of action and, for the first time this season — and 12th time in her career — New Jersey City University senior guard
Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) was selected as the NJAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
After a tough loss to start the season two weeks ago, Rodriguez led the Gothic Knights to a pair of victories – including a dominant one at Montclair State University (62-43) on Tuesday night, Nov. 21, before Thanksgiving, as well as a late victory over #RV SUNY New Paltz at home (75-71) on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 25. She averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals over 38.9 minutes per game and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Rodriguez began with a near-triple-double in the 19-point road win – NJCU's fifth straight over the Red Hawks, and sixth in the last seven meetings – notching game highs in points (18), assists (8) and steals (4), as well as a team-high nine boards. Then, in four-point win over the Hawks on Saturday, she notched a team-best 24 points to go with two steals and a team-high-tying five dimes.
