#4-Seed Gothic Knights to Face #1-Seed Hartford in Saturday Semifinal

November 06, 2023

DANBURY, Conn. — The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the field for its 2023 Division III Women's Soccer Championship today, Monday, Nov. 6. For the first time since 2011 and just the third time in program history, the Gothic Knights have received a bid. NJCU is the #4 seed in the four-team tournament, which will be hosted on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11-12, on the campus of #3-seed Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham.

The Gothic Knights, who currently sport an 8-7-4 overall record, including a 3-3-3 mark in regular-season New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, finished out the season with a 5-2-3 run in the month of October and looks to finish at or above .500 for the first since 2011. After a historic regular-season and postseason finish within the NJAC, the Green and Gold were rewarded with an outstanding haul among the the All-Conference awards including Goalkeeper of the Year, Coaching Staff of the Year and four All-NJAC selections.

NJCU will face off with the tournament's #1-seed the University of Hartford on FDU-Florham's campus in Madison, N.J., on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Should the Gothic Knights top the Hawks, they will compete in Sunday's 3:00 p.m. championship game against either the hosting Devils, or #2-seeded Salisbury University.
