For the third time this season — and fifth time in her career — New Jersey City University women's basketball point
Damaris Rodriguez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) was selected to the D3hoops.com Nationall Team of the Week today, Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Rodriguez, who was selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 13, for the sixth time this season and fifth time over the last six weeks, once again dominated all aspects of the game last week and helped lead NJCU women's basketball to a 2-0 mark and a bye into the semifinal round of the 2023 NJAC Tournament. The nation's leading scorer finished averaging 26.0 points, 9.5 assists and .0 rebounds over 39.0 minutes per game and also shot 46.5 percent from the floor (20-for-43), including 5-of-9 (55.6) from long-range. She began with game-highs in points (30), assists (14) and rebounds (10) for the first triple-double of her career as she led NJCU to the season sweep over Rowan University at home on Wednesday night, Feb. 8, 93-76. Rodriguez then led Jersey City in scoring (22 points) to go with six rebounds and a game-best five assists in Saturday's 63-52 win at Stockton University in Galloway, N.J., clinching the quarterfinal bye in NJACs. She has scored 20-plus points in eight straight and in 20 of 22 games this season and She currently leads the country in made field goals (209), second in field goal attempts (503) and fourth in assists per game (6.2).
