Men's Tennis Picks up Three More Wins on Day Two of Ranger Doubles Invite

Caro and Teynie Team Up Once Again for a Couple Victories

MADISON, N.J. — One day after winning eight of 10 matches on the first day of the Ranger Doubles Invitational Tournament, the New Jersey City University men's tennis team competed five more times on the second day of the Drew University-hosted tournament on Sunday, Feb. 26. The Gothic Knights picked up a trio of victories, including a pair by freshman Pedro Caro-Accino Roca and junior captain Nico Teynie (Rouen, France/Lycée Val de Seine). The duo officially finishes the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record.

Their first win of the day came against Harford Community College, 6-2, before finishing up in the penultimate match of the tournament with a shutout (6-0) win against a duo from the hosting Rangers. Juniors Jordi Julia (Barcelona, Spain/IES Sant Quirze del Valles) and Alejandro Ley (Las Palmas, Spain/I.E.S. Politécnico) also paired up once again and went 1-1 on the day. They defeated a due from FDU-Florham (6-2) to finish up the weekend with a 3-2 mark. Sophomore Joaquin Pluis (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Santa Felicitas) and junior Gerard Loras (Tortosa, Spain/Col·legi Diocesà Sagrada Família) dropped their only match of the day and finished the weekend at 2-2.

The Gothic Knights took a few hours rest before heading over to Newark, N.J., for a dual match with Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology. The match began at 5:00 p.m. and results will be available shortly.
