MARIETTA, Ohio — The New Jersey City University baseball team finished up its four-day stay in Ohio on Sunday, March 19, as part of the Marietta College/BSN Invitational. The Gothic Knights closed out with an early-afternoon clash against Kalamazoo College, but fell to the Hornets, 10-0, in seven innings.
The Gothic Knights (4-7), who's bats had come alive the day prior with 11 runs, unfortunately were quieted once again as they were limited to just three hits by Kalamazoo (5-4). Junior
Ali Pompey (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) got the start on the bump and, after a rough first inning of work, settled in and allowed just three earned over the next few innings before his day was done in the loss.
Offensively, senior
Josh Hernandez (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) was one of three Jersey City hitters to go 1-for-3 at the plate, notching a double. Dating back to April 10, 2022, of last season, he is currently in the midst of a 26-game on-base streak, including a four-game hitting streak. Junior
Garrett Allo (Monroe, N.J./East Brunswick Tech), a transfer from Division II Felician University, has now reached safely in eight consecutive games for NJCU — he was one of the three, joining Hernandez and graduate student
Ricky Voss (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional), to go 1-for-3 against the Hornets today.
